Mandinka - a West African language spoken by over 1.25 million people. There are four major dialects. This is the Gambian dialect spoken in The Gambia, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau and parts of Sierra Leone, the language of Kunta Kinte, hero of Alex Haley's “Roots”. This is the vocabulary from WEC publication “Gambian Mandinka” by Marlies Lück and Linda Henderson (revised 1993), a great book for learning Mandinka. Unfortunately, Forvo does not yet support Mandinka pronunciation.
